Mary Nash Stoddard and Dr. Norman Ralston, March 21, 1992

This is lecture event #3 in Dallas

Grand Mal Seizures
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Cancer and Brain Tumors
Depression and Suicide
Infertility
Alzheimer's Disease

All of the above health conditions have increased in alarming numbers and can be caused, in many cases, by food additives or chemicals in our environment, according to two Dallasites who are internationally famous for their individual campaigns to educate the public of these dangers.

Mary Nash StoddardMary Nash Stoddard, head of the Dallas based Aspartame Consumer Safety Network (ASCN), was part of a 1987 Senate hearing regarding the safety of aspartame (NutraSweet). Having suffered a near fatal condition (Eosinophilia Myalgia Syndrome) that was later linked to aspartame, Mary was called to give testimony.

One of the other individuals testifying at the Senate hearing was Air Force Major Michael Collins, an ace F-16 pilot who had felt obligated to reject offers to fly with the famous Thunderbirds because he was having bizarre symptoms of dizziness and tremors — symptoms he was afraid to disclose to anyone for fear of losing his flying credentials. Then in 1985 he had a grand mal seizure and his career as a pilot was over. By chance, his father saw an article linking NutraSweet with seizures and Major Collins was able to identify the source of his problem, but not in time to save his medical certification to fly.

According to General Aviation News, "pilot George E. Leighton experienced blurred vision so severe he was unable to read instruments on his panels and narrowly avoided a tragic landing after consuming two cups of NutraSweetened hot chocolate prior to his flight."

Another pilot writes "I used NutraSweet regularly until I read your story. I was a 48 year old pilot for a local airline until August 1987, when I had a seizure while in flight at the controls of a Piper T 1040 on a charter flight with only one pilot and two non-pilot passengers."

These are just a few of the cases that Mary Stoddard hears daily on the International Pilots Hotline (214-352-4268) in her Dallas office. She says, "We have discussed this issue with the Chief of Aviation Medicine and FAA has no position, officially, since the product is FDA approved. Unofficially, however, he acknowledged increasing reports of various reactions and will not use it himself."

Eighty-five percent of all complaints to the FDA are about aspartame and they fail to act! Part of the problem is that aspartame is classified as a food and not a drug. Two former FDA scientists involved in the original investigations of Searle Pharmaceutical's aspartame say there has been "a giant cover-up and falsification of data." Quoting General Aviation News: "Animals being tested developed brain tumors ... or died. In 1971, an independent researcher found that aspartic acid caused holes in the brains of mice he was testing; more tests by a Searle scientist confirmed the results. Similarly, of seven rhesus monkeys that were fed aspartame, five were afflicted with grand mal seizures. A sixth one died."

In addition to containing aspartic acid, NutraSweet is 50 percent phenylalinine (which can be neurotoxic) and 10 percent methanol (wood alcohol — of which two teaspoons is considered a lethal dose for adult humans). Methanol further breaks down into formaldehyde (embalming fluid), especially if heated in hot beverages.

Mary Nash Stoddard is one of two people in the world recognized as an expert witness to testify in a court of law on the subject of aspartame and has just completed work on a book The Deadly Deception. As a dynamic talk show guest, she appeared on London's Thames TV as well as network newscasts and top rated talk shows across America. Her message linking aspartame as the unidentified environmental trigger in many cases of Grand Mal Seizure, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Depression, Lyme Disease, Post Polio Syndrome, Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis and many other mysterious illnesses is one you can't afford to miss! Your life may depend on it!

Dr. Norman Ralston
Innovative Super-Vet

Norman RalstonSeeing a 100 percent increase of cancer cases in 24 months is an alarming statistic to Dr. Norman Ralston, a well known Dallas veterinarian. Especially so, as he believes that what he sees in his animal friends is like a barometer of what to expect in the human population. As miners once used canaries to test the air before entering underground coal mines, Dr. Ralston feels that small animals can serve in the same way as a warning about the pollution in our soil, air, water, and food chains. Small animals on the ground are closer to the pesticides, fertilizers, and contaminants in our soil and therefore will show illnesses more quickly, according to his theory.

Dr. Ralston has been an innovator and pioneer in the veterinary world for many years, often to the consternation of some of his more conventional colleagues. Always searching for new ideas and methods to be utilized in his practice, Ralston can usually be found two or three times a year attending conferences on some new technique or "far out theory" that other Vets haven't even considered. Recently, he attended a conference for M.D.s (he was the only veterinarian) in which he learned about Proliferant Therapy used to help humans regain the use of painful joints, etc. Dr. Ralston is using this technique for animals and is getting remarkable results with hip dysplasia and ruptured discs without having to resort to surgery.

In his early years of veterinary practice, Ralston found that antibiotics, prescription foods and surgery did not always work. In 1971 he began studying acupuncture and was one of the founders of the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and also was one of the early organizers of the American Wholistic Veterinary Medical Association, serving as national treasurer for several years.

The first animal he treated with acupuncture was a 16 year old dog brought in by its owner to be euthanized because it was paralyzed and blind. Not only did Ralston cure the dog's paralytic condition, he also cured its blindness and took it to many seminars as an example of what acupuncture could do.

Dr. Ralston practiced his new techniques on himself whenever possible and in 1977 he studied macrobiotics at the Kushi Institute in Boston. Soon he had incorporated this into his veterinary practice and by experimenting with diets was able to effect the dissolution of cataracts in the eyes of many of his older patients. Remarkable before and after slides of these animals will be shown at the lecture.

Also, having studied and researched the theories of Homeopathy, Ralston uses it very successfully in his practice. In fact, Dr. Ralston is such an innovator that he has been featured on many television programs such as That's Incredible and PM Magazine. Feature articles have been written about him in East West Journal and PARADE Magazine. He has written articles for The American Acupuncture Journal and was a contributing author to the book Diet and Cancer published by the East West Foundation.

Dr. Norman Ralston holds or has held the following positions: former President of North East Texas Veterinary Medical Association, President of Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association, and former board member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a consultant for the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board of the Kushi Institute, Boston MA, and the East West Foundation, Brookline, MA.

You will find his slide and lecture presentation fascinating and will probably see many correlations between your own health and that of Dr. Ralston's patients.
